Good thing that Steve Wells annotated the bible, including pouring thru all those boring genealogies, so that we don’t have to. Interesting one in genesis 36:12. Esau’s concubine gave birth to a son, Amalek. Not particularly notable, except that way back at 14:7 all the Amalekites were smitten in battle. Since the Amalekites are the descendants of Amalek, this is a little difficult; they could not be smitten before their founder was born. Which proves multiple authorship? or that Genesis was put together later out of order????
Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is one of the most entertaining stories in the Old Testament. Enjoy it, because we’re headed toward a lot of boring stuff. But also check out the link in ch 37 of the SAB called Possibly Gay Bible Stories – There’s something about Joseph. (This will lead you to Steve’s new book Strange Flesh: The Bible and Homosexuality. I haven’t read it yet, but I plan to; it looks fascinating.) Really? Can a case possibly be made that Joseph might have been gay? Interesting speculation.
