Day 15

Genesis 43-45

Chapter 43

genesis 43There was a famine in the land. No surprise there. The cyclical occurrence of famine has been a mainstay of societies engaged in subsistence agriculture since the dawn of agriculture itself. (Wikipedia) Which really makes the whole story of Joseph folklore; a primitive culture’s attempt to explain natural phenomena.

Chapter 44

Here we go again with the divination! What’s the significant difference between that and witchcraft? Divination: the practice of attempting to foretell future events or discover hidden knowledge by occult or supernatural means. Witchcraft: the art or practices of a witch; sorcery; magic. So why is it ok for Joseph, but not for women (Exodus 22:18).

Chapter 45

V 5 – “But don’t be upset, and don’t be angry with yourselves for selling me to this place. It was God who sent me here ahead of you to preserve your lives.” What does this say about free will?
