If, like me, you are becoming inured to Yahweh’s constant violence, his boasts about his powers, and his rants against idol-worship, and if you are already aware that the prophesy about Babylon becoming a wasteland proved false, then there isn’t much to say about this chapter. It’s interesting to note Yahweh’s use of alcohol as a weapon in v 39 and 57. The things he’ll think up! And v 40 again uses the expression “Like lambs to the slaughter”. But the most exciting verse is the last one – it says “This is the end of Jeremiah’s messages”. Can I get an Alleluia?
This chapter largely duplicates 2 Kings 25, except of course for a few contradictions, and we’ve already been through this, so I’m not commenting again here on the same stuff. Fire the continuity guy (again!)
