This is a real piece of work. In just the first 4 verses, the sick and disabled are removed from the camp and left to fend for themselves or die alone. In verses 8-10, here we go again with the priest getting to collect and keep all the loot from sacrifices, fines, payments, offerings….. what a racket! What a scam!
The rest of the chapter (v 11-31) is just another bunch of hocus-pocus prescientific misogynistic crap. Exactly what I would expect from someone living in this time and place. Except read carefully, it implies an abortion is taking place in v 27.
Here is one of those ‘cherry-picked’ warm fuzzy prayers in it that’s been set to music a zillion times: “The Lord bless thee, and keep thee, The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee, The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.” No matter how nasty the book, apologists always seem to find one passage they can quote.
