Lost Cultures

February 8 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

The history of humanity in North America is a long and rich one. Most of us were taught the Eurocentric version as we grew up, with explorers like Champlain, Hudson, Frobisher, and of course Columbus. Only now, through the study of First Nations’ history, are we beginning to learn about the cultures we lost due to colonization. But February’s meeting will take us even further back.

Join us as educator and science enthusiast Luc Blanchette takes a look at the people who came before. Before the great cultures and nations of the Haida, Anasazi, Arapaho, Innu, Cree, and Iroquois. Who were the first people in North America? What was humanity’s first foray on to the North American continent like? What can science tell us about who they were, how they got here, and what their culture and environment were like?

Join us for Darwin Day and a celebration of science as we delve into a little-known time in human history.
